On Friday October 22nd we were honored to host a live conversation with renowned international mindfulness teachers Phillip Moffitt and Ty and Sarah Powers.  

Phillip, Sarah, and Ty joined us for a thoughtful dialogue about cultivating conscious relationships, mutual empowerment, living the Dharma, raising awakened children, and more.

Phillip Moffitt occupies a unique position in the world of mindful living and leadership. With the astute business acumen honed during his years as a media entrepreneur combined with the deep wisdom about inner development cultivated over the past 35 years as a meditation practitioner and teacher, Phillip brings unparalleled insights and strategic vision to those seeking to lead authentic, purposeful lives.

Phillip was Editor-in-Chief and CEO of Esquire and led the turnaround of the magazine in the 1980s. After leaving his publishing enterprise, he devoted himself to studying and practicing Theravada Buddhism and is now an internationally-known teacher of mindfulness meditation. He served as Co-Guiding Teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center from 2010 - 2018.

Phillip is also the president and founder of Life Balance Institute where he trains individuals and groups in the principles of values-based leadership and living. His clients come from a diverse cross section of profit and non-profit companies. Phillip is the author of Dancing with Life, Emotional Chaos to Clarity, and Awakening Through the Nine Bodies.

Sarah Powers is the co-founder of the Insight Yoga Institute as well as the author of Insight Yoga, which interweaves yoga, Buddhism, Taoism, and Transpersonal psychology into an integral practice to discover and enliven the body, heart, and mind. Her yoga style blends both a Yin sequence of floor poses to enhance the meridian and organ systems with an alignment-based slow flow, or yang practice, influenced by Viniyoga, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Qigong.

Sarah has completed all levels of the Internal Family Systems Therapy training and has been a student of Transpersonal psychology for over 30 years. She also draws from her in-depth training in the Vipashyana, Tantric and Dzogchen practices of Buddhism.

Sarah’s forthcoming book, Lit From Within: Yoga, Teachings, and Practices To Illuminate Our Inner Lives will be released in November 2021.

Ty Powers co-founded the Insight Yoga Institute, and has been leading Buddhist mindfulness meditation retreats throughout the world for over 25 years. He completed the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader training program in 2003 and has led daylong retreats on issues concerning cultural diversity.

Ty offers sessions in Internal Family Systems, and as a Change and Transition Strategist and Certified Integral Coach. Ty serves studio BE as Senior Ethics Advisor.
