studio BE was pleased to host clinical psychologist and mindfulness instructor Dr. Tracey Meyers for a special free 45-minute workshop on mindfulness as support for mental health Wednesday, May 12th.⁠⁠

Dr. Meyers introduced how meditation can calm and support the nervous system and help with a variety of mental health conditions. She reviewed the current literature and research behind these powerful mindfulness techniques, and explored how they are being integrated effectively into traditional mental health and psychotherapy settings. ⁠

⁠Participants learned simple and effective mindfulness techniques to support emotion regulation and meeting difficult emotions.⁠

Dr. Tracey Meyers is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York. She works at Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL), a legal assistance program serving lawyers, judges, and law students. ⁠⁠

Prior to joining LCL, Tracey worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, where she spent over 16 years working in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. Tracey has a strong commitment to integrative medicine for mental health and wellness and leads mindfulness and yoga programs for groups, individuals, and professionals in the workplace.

In addition to her background in psychology, she is also an advanced yoga teacher, certified yoga therapist, and meditation teacher. Tracey has authored several publications, including articles and book chapters about integrative medicine, positive behavioral support treatment for different mental health conditions, and developing collaborative relationships in healthcare settings. ⁠⁠

She has an upcoming book coming out in January 2022 entitled Transformational Healing through Yin Yoga Therapy, which is an extensive guide to utilizing yoga and meditation to support mental health and well-being.
